We are happy to share with you that the seeds that were planted in our hearts a long time ago germinated into a new Danza Azteca-Mexica group that we named Xochipilli. We want to express our thanks to the Fernandez family from Tlaxcalancingo, Puebla , Don Andres Fernandez, his wife Don~a Tlahuis, their daughter Tonanzin Fernandez and their grandaughter Tonantzin. They received us in their home for the first time in September 2003 and they filled our hearts with wisdom and love. Thanks also to our brother Hugo Maldonado Quitl from Cholula, Puebla who made that encounter possible by taking us there to meet the Familia. At that time we were on a quest for knowledge from solid basis and sincere hearts. That's how we formed those strong bonds with the Familia Fernandez. They opened up our eyes to the ancestral knowledge with their dedication wishing to promote and preserve our roots knowing first our true history. The Fernandez family has been a pioneer defending our true history throughout the years. The little seed was planted and finally in July 2008, attending to the calling sounds of the Atekokolli, Capitana Tonantzin Fernandez arrived in Austin, Texas to help us inaugurate our newly formed Kalpulli Teokalli Teoyolotl and initiate the work of Danza Azteca. In October 08, 2008, we traveled to Tlaxcalancingo, Puebla and days after our arrival, the Ceremony to Request the Light to be part of the familia of danzantes took place. In that ceremony we requested permission to form our Danza Azteca-Mexica group under the word of our Captain Tonantzin Fernandez and her group Tonantzin Coatlicue from Tlaxcalancingo, Puebla. Our most humble wish is to be able to serve in our capacity as a Kalpulli offering danza as part of our ceremonial expression. Tlazokamati dear abuelos! Gracias Capitana, Gracias abuelo Fernandez, desde el fondo de nuestro corazon les expresamos nuestro amor y les damos su reconocimiento como guerreros de la Mexicayotl.
Thanks Captain, thanks abuelo Fernandez, from the bottom of our hearts we express our love and we recognize you as warriors of the Mexicayotl.
